Ways of Managing Stinky Breath During Your Workday

Posted on 10/15/2019 by Bryan Neu
Ways of Managing Stinky Breath During Your WorkdayHave you ever returned from lunch, sit at your desk and then start to taste and smell the garlic lingering in your mouth? Maybe you had some strong onions on your salad? If you work in an office or labor/warehouse setting, you typically work at least 8 hours a day, If not more.

That means you probably are eating not only a nice size lunch to keep your energy up for the second half of the day, but you probably eat breakfast and maybe a snack or two as well. That is a long time to go without access to your oral hygiene tools that you use at home, and it is quite common to have a slight concern about ways to keep your breath from being stinky during your workday.

Managing Your Stinky Breath at Work

There are many ways to keep your breath fresh at work, and we are happy to discuss all of them with you. You can schedule a consultation with one of our experienced and highly dedicated team members to find out how you can maintain fresh breath at work, and still practice good oral hygiene and nutrition.

In the meantime, a few things you can do on your own are to, first, keep hydrated. Dry mouth is one of the leading causes of bad breath. Failing to keep hydrated throughout the day with at least 6 ounces of water, you are more likely susceptible to odor causing conditions to exist. You can also watch what you eat at lunchtime. While it's convenient to blame bad breath on garlic or onions, meat is one of the main culprits of bad breath, because it has a nasty habit of becoming intertwined in our teeth. Try rinsing water in your mouth and spitting it out to quickly remove any loose pieces of meat that may linger.

Lastly, bring a piece of fruit to work with you each day. Especially those high in Vitamin C. Apples are considered a natural toothbrush and are great for keeping your teeth clean. Raw veggies like carrots are also a great way to not only clean your mouth organically, but also help your teeth stay whiter in the process.

If you feel like you are not able to maintain fresh breath, no matter what you try, it might be a symptom of a larger issue. Consider reaching out to one of our experienced dental professionals to schedule an in-office consultation with a dental professional to discuss your options.
