ZOOM Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening at Neu Family DentalYour teeth play many important roles in your mouth. Many of these roles are functional. The teeth enable you to bite and chew food as well as to speak properly. In addition to these functional roles, your teeth are also a critical component in your smile. Your smile is the very first thing that people notice about you. If your teeth are dull and discolored, the quality of your smile can be significantly affected. At Neu Family Dental, we can restore the brightness of your smile, as well as your confidence, with ZOOM teeth whitening.

How Do My Teeth Become Discolored?

The enamel of your teeth is naturally bright white in color. However, there are several factors that can contribute to the dulling and discoloration of your beautiful teeth. Common factors include:
•  What you eat and drink. Certain types of foods and beverages contain high concentrations of dark pigments. These pigments can cling to teeth, covering their surfaces and dulling their color.
•  Tobacco products. Cigarettes and other tobacco products contain numerous chemicals. Tar and nicotine are the two chemicals most responsible for discoloration. Tar is naturally dark in color and can lead to deep, dark brown stains. Nicotine yellows when it comes into contact with oxygen, causing a yellow color on your tooth enamel.
•  Certain types of medications. Some medications can lead to deep stains in your teeth.

ZOOM Teeth Whitening

You have no doubt seen the myriad of whitening products available for sale in the oral care aisle of the supermarket. These products all promise incredible results in no time at all. However, they all contain low levels of bleaching agents, and often do not yield the results you are looking for.

ZOOM whitening is a professional whitening system that whitens not just your enamel, but the dentin layer of your teeth as well. With ZOOM whitening, your smile will be whiter and brighter than you ever thought was possible. ZOOM whitening is available in two types of treatments, an in-office procedure, and take-home trays.

ZOOM Chairside Whitening

ZOOM chairside whitening is an in-office procedure that only takes about an hour of your time. Before beginning treatment, we first clean your teeth. Next, a lip retractor is used to keep your lips away from the treatment area. We also paint a protective gel on your gums, which works to prevent irritation. We then paint the ZOOM whitening gel on the surfaces of your teeth and shine a special light over your mouth. The active ingredient in ZOOM is carbamide peroxide. The peroxide breaks down, forming tiny oxygen bubbles that enter into the enamel and dentin of your teeth. They find stains and attach to them, effectively bleaching them away. The purpose of the light is to enhance the results. In-office ZOOM whitening provides immediate results and can whiten your teeth up to 8 shades with just one treatment.

ZOOM Take-Home Trays

You can also choose to whiten your teeth at home on your own time with ZOOM take-home trays. With this treatment, we create customized trays from digital impressions of your mouth. We then provide you with the trays and the whitening gel, as well as instructions for use. The trays are meant to be worn twice a day for a few hours at a time or overnight while you sleep. The exact number of days you should use the trays depends on your needs and your goals. Typically, ZOOM take-home trays whiten your teeth up to 6 shades and results are noticeable in just under a week.

With a whiter, brighter smile, your confidence will increase, and you will find yourself smiling at every opportunity. For more information on ZOOM teeth whitening, and to find out if it is for you, call Neu Family Dental today at (847) 230-9143.
